UPCOMING STRETCH GOALS!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 05, 2020 at 04:22:41 PM

Thank you for helping Greg and I crush the 150 backer milestone! I have sent all backers a link to download The Cicada issue one!

Next up is the $4,500 stretch goal of including a pin-up from up and coming comic maestro Kirsten Driggers. Greg and I would like to invite other artists to contribute to the book, this expands the story world and creates a better product for all of our backers.

Here is a peek at Kirsten's take on Bradford, the immortal curmudgeon in the rent-controlled apartment he has occupied since 1897.

The next backer Milestone is 175 backers and that will unlock a copy of SUCKER Volume One for all backers of Nocturnal Commissions. This 64-page grindhouse vampire epic is a collaboration between me and my old friends, Tony Talbert, John Heebink, Peter Secosh and new soon to be old friend colorist Paul Little.

In the 1980s, Bruce Jacobs was a ruthless vampire stockbroker, living under the radar and partying like a king. But his excesses sent him into a self-imposed exile. Since then, an unscrupulous pharmaceutical industry has decimated the vampire population in an effort to duplicate their longevity.

Now, Jacobs has re-emerged to discover that, as the last surviving vampire, he alone controls the most precious commodity of all: immortality.

And he's not looking to share...

Thank you for continuing to share and promote Nocturnal Commissions. I'm looking forward to sharing SUCKER V1 with you!

The more backers and funding we receive, the more fun stuff we can add to the finished book. And if we hit a magic number Greg and I will start work on a second Nocturnal adventure (I've already written it and can't wait to send it to Greg).

Thank you for the privilege of making comics!

NOCTURNAL COMMISSIONS IS FUNDED!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Feb 03, 2020 at 08:23:09 PM

Because you backed, shared, and spread the good word about Nocturnal Commissions, we have been funded on day five! That means no matter what, the book is going to the printers in April. Every pledge is now officially a pre-order for Nocturnal Commissions. Thank you for being our publishers and making this happen!

But Greg and I are only getting started; we have some talented friends who want to make Nocturnal Commissions even better. In addition to the PDF backer milestones, we have added stretch goal pin-up art to include in the book.

Chris Anderson is an LA-based storyboard and comic book artist for CREEPSHOW, Lost Angels, One-Shot Horror, and Heavy Metal. You can see his madness on Instagram @cduck77

Kirsten Driggers in an up and coming Portland, Oregon based artist who loves the macabre, frogs, the rain, and reads a lot of Star Wars books. You can follow her @kirsten_driggers

Thank you for continuing to share and promote the project. The more backers and funding we receive, the more fun stuff we can add to the finished book.

And if you backed my recent SUCKER 2 campaign, I'm happy to report the initial cases of books have arrived and they look GLORIOUS.  I'll post more fulfillment pics on Instagram @politestrangers

Mondays are a long one for me, I train in the mornings and teach most of the day. Tonight during my comic book scriptwriting class I used The Good, The Bad & The Ugly as an example of masterful shot selection.

"If You Work For A Living, Why Do You Kill Yourself Working?"

I am a very lucky guy in that I spend the majority of my week either talking about visual storytelling or making it. Thank you for your generous support and friendship, I love that I get to do this (almost) for a living.

Milestone Goals
over 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 31, 2020 at 10:32:16 AM

Creatures of the Night (and late afternoon),

When I'm not writing, teaching, or publishing comic books, I moonlight as Portlands worst Lyft driver.  My passengers are forced to listen to horror movie soundtracks, and whatever verbal diarrhea is spewing from my mouth hole at the moment. I miss turns, drive over dividers, cackle to myself, ridicule my passengers' karaoke choices ("if it was in a Shrek movie don't do it"), and generally act a menace. Still, I have five stars.

Last night I came home from a long night of torturing innocent passengers and was stupified to discover we are 85% funded. Thank you for supporting the team and independent comics, it's more fun when we are in it together.

Greg and I are introducing some Milestone goals to the campaign to keep the momentum going! These PDF bonuses will be sent out to all backers as we hit them, whether we are funded or not. They will also be included as digital rewards at the end of the campaign.

First up is the Short Hand one-shot that I co-created with Rahsan Ekedal (Think Tank).

Short-Hand follows the adventures of 80-year-old Oscar Lindstat, who bills himself as the "world's oldest detective." The truth, however, is much stranger.  A noir coming-of-age series with a dark sense of humor.

I'll send this PDF out to all backers when we hit 125 backers.

Thank you for continuing to support, share, and spread the good word about Nocturnal Commissions. The best is yet to come.
