Ghouls!

I left my comic scriptwriting class last night exhausted and wheezing from this cold I have been wrestling with but was elated to discover we had the confidence of 354 adventurous comic lovers. From the bottom of my tiny black heart, thank you for supporting Nocturnal Commissions!  Making great comics is all Greg and I want to do with our lives and this campaign keeps us on the path.

ECCC 2011 (?)

So, now that we are funded, what happens next? Kickstarter will start collecting the funds. If the card you have on file is stale or out of date, now is the time to update it. Greg is finishing up the colors and I'm preparing all of our rewards to go into production. The goal is to ship the physical rewards by June.

I'll be posting monthly updates on Nocturnal Commissions here. If you want daily updates on this and my other comic projects you can follow  @politestrangers on Instagram. It's going to be a busy year for Greg and I and none of it would have been possible without the Kickstarter community.

Upwards, onwards!

Purveyors of the macabre!

Has it been 28 days already? You guys made it go down easy, thank you for passionately supporting Greg and I on this creative journey. As we enter the final hours I want to show off some of the beautiful art our talented friends created just for this campaign. The best part of my job is opening an email and seeing new art, I  hope your pulse quickens as much as mine did when I first saw these.

Thank you to Anke, Chris, Jim, Kirsten and Justin for joining the Nocturnal team on this case, we are humbled to be in such good company.

The Rattler is coming for you!
about 4 years ago – Mon, Feb 24, 2020 at 07:32:30 PM

Thank you, backers, for slaughtering the 200 backer stretch goal! I am very excited to be able to share the Rattler Graphic Novel with you.

This 96 page black and white graphic novel was inspired by true events that happened to me on a road trip years ago. It was also my first long-form collaboration with Greg and it forever changed how I write, collaborate and publish my work. Although I have been writing and publishing comics since 2003, I don't think my career truly started until Greg and I co-created the Rattler and kickstarted it in 2014.

The success of that Kickstarter created new opportunities for us. Greg drew the Airboy and Black Cloud series for Image and I took on some high profile freelance assignments. It took four years for our schedules to line up again for Nocturnal Commissions. In that time Image Comics published a mass-market version of the Rattler and just recently, the publishing rights have reverted back to us. The last few hard copies we have are available at the $50 pledge level and when they're gone, that's it for The Rattler.

It was a special book for us both and if you haven't read it before, I am very excited that you get it to read it now. Thank you for joining Greg and I on Nocturnal Commissions, the best is yet to come.
